Although the couple no strangers to working together on creative projects (They play as husband and wife in the upcoming film Power of the dog), the Bring it on The actress took on the lead in designing her family home and enlisted the help of longtime friend and interior designer Jane Hallworth.

When she was younger, the mother of two says, “She wasn’t particularly interested in clothes and cars, but I loved my home.” She recalls, “Jane really taught me about furniture and design. I was her student in that area.”

Hallworth can easily appreciate Dunst’s eagerness and openness to the world of interior design. “Kirsten has worked with some of the world’s best costume and set designers, so she has a great eye,” says Hallworth. “She takes inspiration from beautiful things. She can see the poetry in them. For her, it’s not about style or parentage, but about that sweet, lovable call to home.”

The actress’s California home is adorned with pretty pieces that had special meaning in her life. Family heirlooms, such as grandfather’s antique ship models and an antique funeral wreath from her great-aunt, all have their place.

“I like the combination of girlish and masculine. I like things with age and patina – really anything that creates an emotional connection, ”says Dunst.

Although her home is so beautiful, she wants family and friends to identify it as a place where they can sit back and relax.

“Our home is the meeting point where everyone eats, drinks, swimming and makes music,” says Dunst. “The bar is always in full swing. We want people to have a good time, so nothing is too precious to us, as much as we value beauty.”
